Management met us today

Prior to the commitment that management gave us (30th April, 2009) they did meet us today. By surprise they called up few parents & asked us to meet them at DPS Hyderabad school in a short notice of about one & half hours.
Six parents (Ramakrishna, Ravi Kumar, Satyanarayana, Ranga Rao, Sridevi & Aruna) met the management Mr. Y. Umanadh, Mr. UV Gamesh & Mrs Shailaja Gopinath met up at about 1700hrs & the meeting lasted for about one hour.
DPaS has put forward the agenda as only role back of fees & various other issues cropped up during the discussions, which was due to cross discussions & a union follower joining in as no man.
Final word has been spelt by Mr. Y Umanadh that school is in no mood to reduce any further fees & parents are free to take TC & leave. Its surprising to note that they insisted us to believe that the secunderabad school is making a loss of over Rs 1crore every year for last many years (they did tell us that we can bring our auditors to cross check this) & this increase has been neccesiated due to the mandate by DPS Society to implement the 6th pay commission + 10% more pay hike to the teachers. Why 10% more than 6th pay commission hike? That's DPS Society's mandate as per the management.
Now that the decision from management has come, its our turn to choose the various options we have to right for justice & not to forget to have mutual trust, to take our school to the top league.

  1. Quick calculations at Rs. 40,000 per student of tuition fee tells me that a single section with about 35 students earns them about 14 lakhs per year. I am not sure of the teacher student ratio, but even if it is 1:15, that is a revenue of Rs. 7 lakhs per teacher. How much of this paid to the teacher? Probably 2-2.5 lakhs. The rest goes to the overheads.
At about 5 lakhs per section, and about 50 sections at DPS Sec'bad (back of envelope calculations), that is a whopping 2.5 crores per year. Are they not able to manage the school with this? Let us take over and manage it for them.

  2. FYI there were 7 parents present at the meeting. I have my children at DPS Secunderabad, my daughter has just passed out of the 10th and my son is currently in Class 7th. Please do rule out the prescence of a "Phantom" a "Ghost" or a No man as I have been made out to be by the members of the union present at the meeting. I do have a right to meet and voice my opinions and I would not appreciate any derogatory comments on this forum. .... Mohan C.S.N F/o C.Rama Aditya Class 7,

  5. HI MOHAN,

YOU STILL FEEL THAT 35% HIKE IS JUSTIFIED. CLARIFY. WE WOULD LIKE TO HEAR FROM GUYS LIKE YOU WHO CAN THINK OTHERWISE. DID YOU LOOK AT PROSPECTUS OF THE SCHOOL, A 5 TO 10% HIKE MAY BE EXPECTED. SO YOU ARE CONTRADICTING YOUR OWN MANAGEMENT. PLS. STOP MENTIONING YOUR CHILD'S NAME HERE, HE HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH YOUR ACTS, MAY BE HE WILL HATE YOU ONCE HE IS GROWNUP, FOR THE ACTS YOU ARE DOING. STOP SIDING UNJUST ACTS, LATER YOU MAY NOT KNOW WHERE TO HIDE YOUR FACE. ALREADY WE GOT UPTO INR 6000/- ROLLED BACK, AND WE ARE SURE THAT WE WILL GET COMPLETE ROLL BACK, THEN WE WOULD LIKE TO APPRECIATE YOU FOR GIVING US THIS STEAM TO WITHSTAND ALL THIS.

    THANKS DEAR PARENT

  6. Dear Mr.Anonymous

I have in no discussion taken sides. You need to know that I had met the school board on an individual capacity after making my own observations and checking with the school wrt the details of the fee hike etc. I am surprised at your resorting to hate mail and I do not want to be party to getting into a discussion with a faceless and name less person who will not disclose his identity.

With regards to my child emotions- about me- I do think your comments are absolutely unjustified, rude and unwarranted.

To the President: If as parents of children we cannot talk with restraint and responsibility I do not see how this association would make any headway towards any objective. I am sure that you need to arbitrate the forum. I have made my identity clear and it is for a fact that I would not want to be the part of a mob throwing up slanderous accusations against me without verifying facts. It is upto you to prove that this is a forum of well meaning and responsible parents setting out on a common objective rather than posting such irresponsible comments.

    Regards

    Mohan

P.S.If Anonymous is the president god help the forum.

  9. A Concerned parent …….

I am really happy that some one has stood up tall and taking initiative. My daughter is in III rd class last year and I had paid Rs.43000/- including transportation. For coming academic year i.e., 09-10 the total fee will be Rs.53000/- out of this school management has agreed to collect activity fee of Rs.3000/- as and when required. After all this the hike is coming around Rs.7000/-.

I had seen so many posting in this blog about fee hike of 30%...35%..and 40%....as per my calculations hike coming around 18% to 20%. So if nice some one can help me out in this issue.

I am feeling proud to be a part of this association.
